At a meeting of the Standing Committee Community Services held on the 12th Nov 1999 the Committee proposed that Rory Gallagher's birthplace at the Rock Home,Ballyshannon should be marked with the erection of a commemorative plaque.

The unveiling of the plaque took place on Friday,9th June 2000 in the Rock Home, Ballyshannon at 1.00 p.m.
